Following the success of their fall 2025 Ikebana collaboration, Dusk in Autumn: Bittersweet Sparkles Golden, Hitomi Gilliam and Quynh Nguyen reunite for a spring workshop that brings together paper artistry and floral mechanics in a new way: the wearable flower crown.
About the Workshop
What You Will Learn
Quynh will guide you through the creation of three botanically realistic paper flowers: the Princess Hitomi garden rose (a Japanese rose with cotton-candy pink petals and a quartered bloom form, named after Hitomi Gilliam herself), a clematis, and a double lisianthus. Each flower is crafted with attention to the living bloom’s petal structure, color, and character.
Hitomi will teach the mechanics of the ephemeral flower crown: structural framework, assembly technique, and the balance required to make a crown that is both artful and wearable. With nearly four decades of experience in floral mechanics and design education, Hitomi brings unmatched expertise to the structural side of this collaboration.
